Very strange.  My TeX version is identical and I don't get that error.
Only thing that comes to mind is the fact that the acm-.cls file pulls in
the amsmath packages; I'm working off tetex 1.0.7.  But I'm not using any
fancy math; what's really weird is that there's nothing done by \Aone that
isn't done by \Atriv a few lines earlier.
