[Stephen Weeks]

I think it's time to do a release and a public announcement.  It would
be nice to get the GC improvements and the FreeBSD port out there.

The only known problems are

1. The GC bug that Alain mentioned in August.  We haven't been able to
reproduce it.

2. The performance problems on FreeBSD.

I figure it's OK to leave those for the future.
