Right.  Still, this should give some pretty close measure of how much the
transformation can buy.  The only downside is code duplication which should
`only' cost you in I-cache thrashing and in branch prediction table thrashing,
which shouldn't be much for most programs.  Not what you really want in the
compiler, but probably good enough to get some feeling of the potential win.
