With regards to checking of args in MLton, why not do the same kind of thing
that gcc does. I.e., gcc uses -Wl,option to mean to pass option to the
linker. Why not have something like `-gcc option' mean that option should
get passed to gcc. This way there is no confusion possible and you can pass
any thing. (One uglyness is that if you want to pass, or instance,
-letter value
to gcc, you would have to do
-gcc -letter -gcc value
but atleast everything can be done.)
