Ah -- I just looked at in the /doc directory.
I notice that the currrent version is only supported on x86 Linux.
That would explain the compiler switches.

I had a previous version of the standalone defunctorizer running on a DEC
aplha a while back and wanted to update to my current system.  If I end up
getting the build procedure to work I will send the revisions along, else I
won't bother you further since I am doing something unsupported.
