[MLton] another MLton user at Sourcelight

Shilad,  some  one  here at Sourcelight, has been playing with MLton for some
stuff he needed to do which would have  been  too  slow  in  anything  except
either  MLton or C and has been very happy with the result.  He said that the
program would have taken about 1/2 day in C, and it only took about 1.5  days
in MLton, and that includes the time to learn SML syntax and the like.

He  said  that  now  that  he  understood  the  syntax and such that it would
probably only take an hour or two.

I asked him how the error messages were and he said that they were very good.

One  minor  bug:  he  had  just  installed  Debian on his machine and had not
installed gcc and when MLton was installed  it  failed  because  it  did  not
explicitly mention the dependency (from MLton to SML).
