The point is just that a `standard' basis gives you a standard agreed-upon vocabulary, and re-defining it is like talking with some one you agree to use `yes' to mean `no' and `no' to mean `yes'. It is going to confuse any one reading. (Not such a big deal here, but still not as good as actually fixing the spec to say what it really should.)
